Common Management Admission Test – CMAT
Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It is a national-level admission test for facilitating institutions to select suitable students for admission in all management programmes approved by AICTE. Earlier, AICTE used to conduct CMAT, but in 2019, the NTA was given the responsibility to conduct it.

Admission Procedure
The detailed merit list will be provided to the respective State Governments for allotting the students through central counselling or otherwise as per their notified admission procedure.
In case there is no central counselling, scores awarded will be used for admission in the AICTE-approved institutes/university departments.
Pattern of Examination
CMAT is a three-hour exam. The question paper consists of 100 questions in five sections:
- Quantitative technique and Data Interpretation
- Logical reasoning
- Language Comprehension and Verbal Ability
- General Awareness and Innovation and Entrepreneurship
- Innovation and Entrepreneurship
There are 20 questions in each section. While each correct answer carries four marks, each wrong answer will carry one negative marking.

- Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation: Arithmetic, Mensuration, Algebra, Time-Speed-Distance, Alligation & Mixtures, Geometry, Graph, Quadratic and Linear Equations, Tables and Cjarts, Bar Graphs, etc.
- Logical Reasoning: Analytical Reasoning, Linear Arrangements, Number Series, Matrix Arrangements, Blood Relationship Tests, Coding-Decoding, Family Tree, Clocks and Calendars, etc.
- Language Comprehension: Reading Comprehension, Grammar, English Usage Errors, Fill in the Blanks, Antonym & Synonym, Idioms, Word Meaning, Vocabulary, Parajumbles, etc.
- General Awareness syllabus: Economy, Business, World, Politics, Sports, Culture, Society, Personalities, Awards, Art, Entertainment, Books, Culture, Society, Science & Tech.
- Innovation & Entrepreneurship: Business studies, entrepreneurship, start-ups and related topics
Exam Format
CMAT is a computer-based test (CBT). A candidate reads the questions on a computer terminal and chooses an answer by clicking on the correct option.
List of TOP Colleges Accepting CMAT Scores
CMAT score is accepted by about 1,300 B-schools in India. Candidates can also seek admission by participating in the MAH MBA CAP with their CMAT score.
