Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkar Law University Chennai

Dr. Ambedkar Law University (TNDALU), Chennai was established in 1997 by the Government of Tamil Nadu by an Act of State Legislature. It aims towards advancement of legal education and promotion of knowledge of law in general. The University will strive to improve the communal harmony and achieve the goal of egalitarian society through legal literacy programs.
The University is the first full-fledged Law University that offers Legal Education only through this University and its affiliated colleges in the State and the University is the first of its kind not only in the country but also in South Asia. The University offers legal education at its campus as well as through eight affiliated colleges in the state of Tamil Nadu located at Chennai, Madurai, Trichy, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Chengalpattu, Vellore and Salem.

Courses and Admission Procedure

School of Excellence offers:

1. BA BL (Hons),
2. 3 Yr BL,
3. 5 Yr BL,
4. ML

Admission to the first year of the 5 year BA BL (Hons) course is based on an entrance test.

Eligibility

Students who have passed their 10+2 examination or its equivalent with no less than 60% are eligible for admission.

Pattern of Examination

• The test is of 2 hours duration carrying 100 marks and consist of objective type questions 80 marks and essay writing 20 marks.
• One fourth mark is deducted for every wrong answer.
• The age limit for admission is 20 years for general and 22 years for SC/ST category.

Total no. of available seats is 44.
