Management Aptitude Test – MAT

All India Management Aptitude Testing Service (AIMATS), New Delhi conducts a Management Aptitude Test (MAT) on a national basis every year in the months of May, September and December for admissions to MBA and equivalent programmes. Large number on institutes participate in MAT.
MAT is necessary for admission into the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology & Management (PGDITM) and equivalent programmes offered by All India Management Association (AIMA-CME) or other Management Institutes (MI). Centre for Management Education (CME), the education wing of AIMA, was established in 1993 as a full-fledged autonomous business school. All management institutes that participate in MAT are either AICTE (All Indian Council for Technical Education) approved or affiliated to universities.

Courses and Eligibility

Courses

1. Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) offers specializations in:

• Insurance Management,
• HR,
• Finance,
• Marketing,
• Operations and
• International Business.

2. PGDITM offers three specializations including:

• IT Marketing,
• E-Commerce,
• Information Systems Management.

3. Other programmes offered by AIMA-CME include:

• Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA),
• One-year Professional Diploma Programmes (PDs),
• Advanced Diploma Programmes (ADPs) and
• Shorter duration Advanced Diploma Programmes in IT (ADPs).

Eligibility

• The candidate has to possess Bachelor’s degree in any discipline, that is, B.A., B.Sc., B.Com, B.Tech, etc. the candidates should have done graduation or its equivalent under 10+2+3 examination pattern, from any recognized institute of University, which is recognized by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
• Those students, who have appeared for final year of the qualifying examination and waiting for their results, are also eligible to apply for the MAT exam.
• The final year appearing candidates may also apply for the competitive entrance test, but they have to show all the required documentary evidences or certificates at the time of admission.

Pattern of Examination

The Management Aptitude Test or MAT is the test conducted by All India Management Testing Service for entering into MBA or equivalent post graduate programmes.

There are five papers in MAT:

1. Language Comprehension
2. Mathematical Skills
3. Data Analysis
4. Intelligence & Critical Reasoning
5. Indian & Global Environment Section

Paper Pattern:

• Total Questions: 200
• Time: 150 minutes

Marks allocation:

• Correct attempt: 1 mark
• Incorrect attempt: Negative marking not specified

3. Quantitative Aptitude — 40
4. Logical and Critical reasoning — 40
5. General Awareness** — 40

**Scores are based on the first four sections only, the decision to consider scores of the General Awareness section are left to the institutes.
