Department of Laws Punjab University Chandigarh

The Department of Laws, originally established at Lahore in 1889, was re-established at Shimla in 1948, shifted to Jalandhar in 1950 and finally re-located at the University Campus at Chandigarh in 1959. Law department formerly known as University Law College is committed to play an important role in the legal system of this university. Stature of this department is as big as its strength. Department is always in action to create new opportunities for its students. Department has a Students organization ALSA (Asia law Student Association) and has MoU with ELSA (European Law Student Association and running an exchange programme with University of Stockholm.

Courses and Eligibility

  1. LLB in Bachelor of Law Duration: 3 Years
  2. LLM in Masters of Law Duration: 2 Years

Eligibility

LLB in Bachelor of Law

  • The students must be of age 19 and above.
  • The candidates need to have passed Bachelor’s level of examination in any stream, from any recognized University.
  • The marks of the candidate eligible is 40% in the qualification of 10+2, or any graduation.
  • The aspirants are short listed according to their marks in the qualifying examination
  • There is no any entrance exam.

LLM in Masters of Law

  • The candidates need to have passed Bachelor’s level of examination in any stream, from any recognized University.
  • At least 2nd class bachelor degree in law (LL.B) from any recognized university.
  • The candidate must pass his or her graduation in law- civil or criminal from any university of the country recognized by the law board of the nation.
  • There is no age bar.
